School Safety Plan
This section provides
information about the school's comprehensive safety plan.
|
Mitchell K-6 has a comprehensive safety plan that was developed by staff, parents and community agencies to help insure the safety of all students and staff in the event of an emergency. This plan is updated annually and regular drills are conducted for fire, intruder and earthquakes. The drills and procedures are practiced and rehearsed so that all students respond quickly and safely. Campus Supervision is provided by classroom teachers, campus supervisors, assistants and principal. All visitors are required to sign in at the office before entering the campus. |
|
Learning occurs in a safe, disciplined and positive environment. To achieve this, a set of expectations for student behavior, absences, tardiness and dress code have been established. These expectations are outlined in the student handbook. The handbook is distributed at the beginning of each school year and to new students at enrollment. Mitchell K-6 school sponsors numerous recognition activities which acknowledge and encourage desirable student behavior. Some include: *Student of the Week live broadcasts on campus and Cheetah Champ honors tickets *Student of the Month at “Cheetah Pride” assemblies (parents invited). These assemblies include Perfect Attendance and Accelerated Reader recognition *Trimester Cheetah Reward assemblies and School Carnival *Other rewards and recognitions which may vary from year to year
