Here are explanatory notes for the NWEA Student Assessment Profiles to be shared with parents during conference week. The sample profile is numbered to correspond to the explanatory notes below:
- Testing and Growth History: This shows student scores over time.
- Performance levels have now been changed to STAR levels NWEA used 4 levels—Below Basic, Basic, Proficient, and Advanced. STAR uses 5 levels. Scores may be lower than previously shown.
- Growth: This section compares student’s RIT growth in Reading, Language and Math. It shows the Benchmark score (what was expected of a student at this level) and what the actual RIT growth was. It also indicates if this growth was high, average or low for a student at this RIT level. (Growth benchmarks are based on national norms.)
- This example shows a RIT score gain of 11 points. This is “high” growth performance when we look at the average benchmark growth based on national NWEA norms.
- This section shows pictorially the student’s growth vs. the benchmark.
- The rest of the profile is self-explanatory and has not been changed.
